So Dan are you now saying you can build muscle and loose fat at the same time?

You seem to be advocating carbohydrate back loading in that question you answered? You've said countless times on here that you can't? What's the deal here?

Okay, we need to get this right. I have not advocated carbohydrate back loading. I had not even heard of this until a few days ago. I don't know anybody that has followed the diet, and I have no idea what the results of this diet are like. HOWEVER, I have researched the concepts, and some of the principles make sense.
I have decided that I am going o follow the carbohydrate back loading diet for the next 4 weeks, and I will therefore be able to give you a better opinion of this diet.
As I stand here today, I don't believe that you can gain muscle without gaining fat, but I am happy to stand corrected.
And for anybody reading this, this is the link to the question Payton is referring to.
What's the deal with carb back-loading?

But for guys who have been training hard, smart and consistently for several years, it is VERY rare to be able to gain muscle without gaining fat because excess calories are needed before the body will expend energy building more muscle.
Think of it this way, the longer you have been training and eating properly, the less impact excess calories are likely to have on adding extra muscle mass to your frame.
The shorter you have been training (and the faster your metabolism is), the more likely that excess calorie intake can increase your muscle mass.
