What are the must have supplements?

I have no specific goal at the moment other than to stay in good shape. I eat well and train hard. I typically do 2 weight training sessions a week, 2 sessions of cardio of some description, and I walk the dogs every day.
I'm not obsessed, nor do I care to be. I am happy to supplement with tried and tested products. So much is available and I just feel when I ask in shops, I am been pushed into buying all sorts. I like the way answers are given on this site, they seem independent? Thanks

supplements
Unless you are extremely organized and you can cook and prepare several protein-based meals per day and you can transport them around, refrigerate them and re-heat them and have a place to eat them, then a good protein powder is a "no brainer", whether you're trying to gain weight or lose fat.
For guys who are young, have a lean build, have a fast metabolism or are quite active, a weight gainer is a better choice than a protein powder as they need "calories" and not just protein.
Second would be creatine. It's got no negative side effects, is cheap and give rapid results in muscle and strength gains. For a little extra money, you can buy creatine formulas that have specific carbs and other nutrients to help further enhance the benefits of creatine.
After these two, it really depends upon your goals...
Pre-workout products improve energy, muscle pumps and performance and some will enhance recovery from exercise also.
A post-workout product is probably just as important, depending upon whether you get dramatic results from your pre-workout or not - for some people they give a significant boost and for some the effects are more subtle.
A good fat burner if your trying to get lean works well to keep metabolism elevated and to decrease hunger - again for some results are dramatic and others, more subtle.
There are several other types of products but these should make up the core of your supplement regimen.

I believe if you want it to improve performance then supplements can come in handy, but if you have no goal, how do you stay motivated? For that I salute you! If you decide on a goal or a supplement that you are interested in, then let me know I can direct you to a suitable supplement for your goal etc, however for the time being it seems as though you just like to keep active.
