When it comes to building Muscle its vital to have a good variety of first class proteins. I recommend all types of poultry and fish as well as supplementing with high quality protein shakes.

Proteins -

Lean Beef Mince
Turkey
Chicken
Eggs
Oily fish ( Tuna, Salmon, mackerel, etc)

The above make up the bulk of my diet when looking to build good quality lean muscle but it is very important to make sure that a very quick absorbing protein is used after exercise and this is where sport supplementation comes into play which can be found at www.tropicanafitness.com.

Proteins such as :-

Hydrolysed Whey Protein
Whey Protein Isolate
Whey Protein Concentrate

are the quickest absorbing forms of protein available and essential for post-workout recovery and can also be used any time of the day or night to supplement with meals lacking in good quality protein.

Carbohydrates are the main source of energy for the body to fuel its day to day activities. When weight training to build muscle you need to also make sure they're is sufficient amount of carbs available to also help in the muscle building process as carbs are the main transport system for nutrients around the body.
There are many types of carbohydrates to choose from and depending on how easy you find it to gain weight will determine which carbs are best for you to used as in fast release and slow release carbs.

Carbohydrates:-

White & Brown Rich
Fruits
Vegetables
Oatmeal
Whole Wheat Bread
Sweet potato.

Post-workout carbs are slightly different as glycogen levels have been lowered so a quick releasing carb is needed such as maltodextrin to help refuel and speed up the recovery process, so a combination of Hydrolysed whey protein, maltodextrin creatine & glutamine, would be the perfect post-workout booster.
