Hello Nick,

We need to consider this is in 4 parts, so just bare with me as I gather my thoughts:

1. Period of dieting to get as lean and 'ripped' as possible.

2. Your final weeks preparation to include water loading and depleting, and carbohydrate loading.

3. Tanning/grooming

4. Practicing how to pose

Hi Nick

I've been going to bodybuilding and fitness events for almost two decades now and while I'm not a huge fan of watching the posing routines, I can't help but have the highest respect for people who take their fitness and even their levels of muscle to another level because I know the commitment required to achieve that look.

Over that time, I suppose I've picked up a few things...

First think about the poses that show off your best features and as vein as it sounds, you'll have to practice poses in the mirror. It is best to find a friend/ girlfriend or someone who knows a bit about bodybuilding to give you some feedback because you need someone who will give you honest feedback. Make sure you look natural and smile when you flex your muscles (try not to look like you've got a bad case of constipation - this is acceptable for bodybuilders but not fitness model type events).

Next, "Youtube"...check out "male fitness model routines" or similar searches and you should be able to get a sense of what you'd be comfortable doing. Maybe you have a bit of a silly dance you do, or expression? Recently, at the BodyPower Show, fitness model and Team Grenade member, James St Leger did some contortion movements with his stomach in a male model contest and because it entertained the crowd and put a smile on everyone's face, it helped him win against a very "fit" field of guys.

Hope that gives you some ideas!
