Should I eat protein bars whilst cutting?

Which protein bar, regardless of taste would be best during a cutting cycle?

Hello Matthew,

Some protein bars on the market taste great, however they tend to be a little too high in overall calories. Check out the following questions that have previously been asked:

Should I eat protein bars when dieting?

Is it good and healthy to eat protein bars daily?

What protein bars are recommended for fat loss where its difficult to get meals?

There has been some great answers given, and I hope will answer your question.

Incidentally - For when you are not strictly cutting, supreme (I think) do a peanut butter and jelly bar! Seriously good! http://tiny.cc/1h2l3 this link takes you to the supreme bars sold at TropicanaFitness)

I think the best bar nutritionally is the Zero Impact Bar by VPX and I like the taste but it's not for everyone. Although it does have about 400 calories and is fairly high in carbs and fat (although they're good carbs and fat).

Unfortunately, when you are dieting strictly, bars have inherent limitations on their ability to have a high protein to carb and protein to fat ratio due to the realities of production. You can lose fat using protein bars as snacks in the early phases of dieting or coming off a bulking cycle but the ones that are low enough in calories are too low in protein and the carbs aren't actually that low...although they do use lower-calorie carb sources like sugar alcohols that also don't spike the hormone insulin so cause less fat cravings and don't shut down fat burning like normal carbs.

So you probably have to stick to protein shakes in the strict or late phases of dieting to get that extra lean look!
