Hello Mitchell,

I suspect the simple reason is that you don't hear about there medical problems. Believe me, they have them!

Heart attacks at a young age
Kidney failure
Liver disease
Long term testicular failure
Depression
Huge suicide risk
Life threatening infections
Problems with aggression

Need me to go on?

Short answer! They do.
Long Answer! Because most of their "drugs" are more refined and only cause damage to their body's later on in life. And the ones that felt it earlier are dead or in hospital.

Bodybuilding involves stressing the body in 3 ways:

Massive calorie intake stresses the digestive system, of which the liver is the major player.

Massive overload of skeletal muscle and the constant attrition and repair that incurrs.

Significant (not all take 'massive' doses) intake of polypharmacy/different drugs stresses the endocrine system. The liver also takes a hit, metabolising these drugs away as well as processing all the food ingested.

You cannot IMO treat the body in this way and expect a free pass to long-term health. That being said, there are ways to bodybuild that do not incur such constant and severe stress on the body. Don't over-train and expect the drugs to deal with it. Don't over-eat and expect other drugs to deal with that. Don't overdo the PEDs in an attempt to compensate for your average genetics. And don't eat oral steroids like candy.

Doing this won't magically grant you superhuman health, but it may reduce some of the risks.
