What foods can I advise Muslim athletes to eat during training and Ramadan?

I have a few athletes who are practising Muslims. The holy month of Ramadan is close (August I think) and so its a longer day fasting from sunrise to sunset. As they are pro athletes, they must train with the rest of the squad at the same time frames. Is there any foods which will burn slower throughout the day to give them more energy whilst fasting?
P.S. sorry for the complexity of the question :-)

Meal after sunset - whey protein shake (at least 40 grams protein) with a fast carb like maltodextrin, waxy maize, etc (at least 100 grams) then a proper meal again with high protein meat of some kind and "faster carbs" like mash potato, rice, etc...
Hope I haven't recommended any foods you can't eat but feel free to inquire about any substitutes if so...

It might also be worth ensuring that your athletes supplement with branched chain amino acids and glutamine.
Also ensure that before the fast starts, they consume a few litres of a isotonic solution so they do not get to dehydrated through the day.
