HI Oksana,

Soy protein isolate is a fairly high-quality protein. Unfortunately, it contains the isoflavones genistein and daidzein. Both of these can interact with estrogen receptors in humans and this can cause estrogen-like effects and reduce testosterone levels in men. In rare cases, this can even cause breast growth in male humans.

So while it is likely that most men could use soy protein fairly regularly without suffering any obvious negative effects, there are quite a few studies that implicate it in unwanted hormonal effects in men for me to recommend using it.

Soy may have advantages in women.
