What is the best quality and value protein powder?

I'm currently using BSN Syntha-6 and find it a bit expensive and not convinced of positive effects. Any suggestions?

Hi Jamie,

When are you using your protein powder? There are so many different types now with so many purposes, this information will make it a little easier to answer.

Thanks

As far as Syntha-6, it tastes great but it is only about 50% protein, so it's more of a "meal replacement" - type supplement. Assuming you are trying to get or stay lean, your protein should be at least 75% protein.Crucially, the higher the percent protein, the more you are getting of what you pay for!

I use a number of different products, as most whey proteins made by good companies are quite good and there is not much difference in quality between them. Keep an eye out for one of the good ones that you can get a deal on, etc.

I like PhD Pharma Whey (especially the strawberry, although they recently changed it but it's probably still great), MyoFusion Banana (although it is higher in carbs and has fewer servings), Dymatize Whey

OR

for a multi-function whey protein product (but at a higher price), try Nitro-Tech or IsoFlex (these last two deliver the quality protein along with ingredients to increase nitric oxide and improve insulin function).

Hi Jamie

ProV60 is an excellent product by Labrada. It is high in protein percentage and has mostly whey protein but with added egg as the second most prominent protein and also with added casein. Egg is the next best protein source after whey and adding egg to whey may result in even better amino acid nutrition.

This is an excellent quality product and Labrada stuff usually tastes great too. Only potential drawback is that it is often a bit more expensive than other proteins. Then again, it's still cheaper than buying chicken breasts per gram of protein and it's higher quality.
