If you are stuck in a UK airport and you have no protein supplements, what do you do?

I have just had this dilemma, and I was able to solve it but I want to get people thinking. How can I travel yet maintain my dietary requirements if I make the error of putting my protein supplements in my suitcase that I have already checked in.

I would have a protein-based meal just before I caught my flight, something like a chicken/steak sandwich on wholemeal bread or a chicken pasta dish and I'd buy another one to take on the flight with me. If I didn't feel like eating a meal I'd get a skinny latte or skinny steamed milk from one of the coffee shops and still buy something to eat on the flight.

I'd take a look around to see if there were any snack foods to take on board. In a UK airport you could probably get beef jerky from WH Smiths. You could buy some plain nuts too, Boots the chemist usually sell them in little bags. You could also buy a bit of fruit from one of the coffee chops or news agents and get plenty of bottled water there too.

Great advice...and obviously if you were watching your calories and starchy carbs, etc you could only eat half the bread on the sandwich or even get a burger and just eat the meat. This would keep you nice and full and keep the aminos flowing into the muscles without worrying about putting on fat.

Thanks guys, but would you believe the answer to my problem was as follows:

I searched the airport and the food was the typical rubbish you would expect. I just wanted t have some protein supplements for the plane, but they were in my suitcase already checked in.

So I went to W.H. Smiths for some magazines (Flex and Muscle & Fitness) and would you believe each magazine came with a sachet of whey protein! Problem solved!
