hi mark/dan or everybody, my question is, does anyone have any conclusive information that would suggest that IF is MORE effective than a high protein fibrous carbs diet for fat loss AND lean muscle retention, or does anyone know of any reason why it would be more effective?
the papers ive managed to find dont completely provide an answer to convince me to try it yet.

I'm not saying IF (intermittant fasting) can't work but there is no evidence that it is more effective than a high-protein, high-fibre (vegetable), moderate carb, moderate fat diet. Also, the long gaps without food are known to curtail high-intensity exercise performance. I think for people who lift heavy and do cardio and especially HIIT, carb cycling works much better than long fasts or just regularly eating small meals as most successful bodybuilders and physique athletes do.
However, that's not to say that fasting might not work well for some people who don't train too intensely because for some people just avoiding food completely for a day, is just easier for them to stick to.
