Mark: Would drinking skimmed before bed be an easy and cheaper alternative to casein protein?

Mark,
I have been reading up about milk and I read that even Skimmed Milk contains the same amount of protein as whole milk just without as much of the fat. I have also read that this protein is 80% casein. Therefore would drinking semi skimmed before bed be an easy and cheaper alternative to buying a casein product and getting some protein during the night?
Also people constantly say having whey supplement with milk that the milk will counteract the protein from the whey supplement is this true?
Thanks in advance.

Skimmed milk contains 12 grams of sugar (lactose) per cup (250ml). So if you are trying to get or stay lean, then this isn't a good choice.
Yes the protein in milk is 80% casein and 20% whey protein but protein powders get rid of most or all of the lactose, which is extra sugar (and calories), along with most of the fat, so that mostly protein is left.
Mixing your protein shake with milk will not change the benefits of the protein, nor will it slow down the absorption of whey protein, these are myths. Casein clots when it hits the stomach and the whey just goes right into the intestine and is absorbed into the bloodstream very quickly.
