When should your last consumption of carbs be before bed?

Is it true that carbs too close to your bedtime will mean that they're more likely to get stored as fat during the night?

Also, if you were to take casein protein pre-bed, would it count towards your daily protein / calorie intakes?

Cheers!

Hi Craig,

Yes ideally you'd want to keep your carbs and your fat intake low. Carbs may cause an insulin spike and inhibit growth hormone production.

Having said that you'd want to keep your protein moderate as well, depending on your personal requirements. Your body will be resting for 8 hours(if you're lucky) so loading up on too much of a macro will inevitably get stored as fat, although, when we eat a portion of every meal is stored as fat anyway, so keep the last meal of the day modest.

If you feel the need, and again depending on your requirements and goals, you could keep an extra hit of protein by the bed for those midnight hunger pangs.
