What can I eat before going to bed and still decrease my body fat?

Hello,

I am trying to cut the fat down on my body. I am getting there slowly; I have changed my diet a lot over the last month or so to a high protein diet.

I currenty train quite hard most of the week. I am probably at the gym 5 times a week plus I am a bricklayer as my trade, so I am very active at work

What is the best thing to eat later at night a couple of hours after I have my dinner? I start to feel hungry again around this time. Since I am trying to cut the fat on my body, I don't want to eat the wrong things late at night and cancel out all the hard work I am doing at the gym and put the fat back on that I am slowly working off.

Hi Callum,

To stay lean, the last thing before bed needs to be lean protein. If I'm cutting, I have a whey shake. Some people use casein but I don't really like the flavour or mouth feel of casein and I don't totally buy into the theory that gradual-release of the "slow" protein in casein overnight is an advantage (it's a pretty complicated reason(s) why).

Either way, the main thing is that you have a big dose of protein that is low in fat and carbs.

i always have a protein shake b 4 bed so at least i am doing something right. Is there any small things i can snack on because sometimes i feel a shake isnt enough?

As i said in my earlier post i am trying gain lean mass plus loss fat.Could u please tell me how much carbs i should be consuming per day and what time these would be best consumed?I am very active all day as i work in the building trade then hit the gym 5 times a week.If i am eating carbs its always healthy carbs but i tend to eat them after the gym which is normally about 8.30pm as i find it difficult to gert them into my diet when am working.

Add some fat to the night shake. ;)

The quantity of daily carbs vary according to the percentage of protein an dfat that you're looking for.

I always have egg whites before bed - I favour that over a shake purely because I find that I don't have to get up during the night for a bathroom break.
