What foods should I eat to help get back into shape?

Hi,
I am a 42 year old male, and am thinking about joining a gym. I have probably never really exercised at all. I am quite thin really but have a bit of a tummy but want to tone up a bit; I weigh around 10 stone. I was wondering if you could tell me what type of foods I should be eating to help myself get back into shape.

Your diet should consist from the following:

Protein - good sources of protein are chicken, turkey, fish and eggs.

Healthy fats - omega 3 from oily fish, walnut and flaxseeds.

Veg - make sure you choose a wide range of veg of different colours.

Fruit - fruit are full of vitamins and fibre but don't eat to many if you want to get rid of your belly as they contain sugars.

Carbs - choose carbs such as oats, whoegrain rice and sweet potato but again not to much if you want to get rid of your belly.

Water - get at least 2 litres a day.
