How can I decrease the size of my legs, but not the amount of fat?

I'm trying to reduce the size of my legs, not the amount of fat. I have limited fat but want them to be slimmer. Can you recommend an exercise program to help me accomplish my goal?

Hi Emma,

All you can do for these kinds of results is a cardiovascular exercise like long-distance running or an eliptical machine - even a bike, stepper or rowing machine can cause muscle growth in some people's legs depending upon their training experience and how easily they gain muscle.

The key is diet. You will have to continue to adjust your calorie intake so as to be losing weight. Also, in some people (especially some women), the legs can stubbornly hold on to fat and muscle and this may be the last place you lose the weight from. As a rule of thumb, if it is the first place you put on weight, it will be the last place you lose it from.

Don't despair though, consistent dieting will work for sure but you just have to be patient and persistent.

I'll be posting a diet in the next few days on the site, so keep your eye out for it.
