Splits vs fully body workouts; is one preferable over the other?

Hi All,
I'm currently on a push/pull/legs routine and I quite like the intensity of working out different muscles groups in the same day and I also feel leaner. I've also been on a 5 day split routine a while ago where I've seen good progress in muscle mass but it was hard for me to be consistent on a 5 day basis and would thus miss workouts.
My question is, what type of routine would you go for and are there any benefits in choosing one type over the other?
My goal is to build more muscle while keeping fat low, a lean bulk perhaps?
Thanks

After the first 12 to 18 months, you're best off using a split program and increasing the intensity and volume of work done specifically on various body parts at given workouts.
