Sports Nutrition courses

Hi, I have a passion for eating right and exercising based upon the information I consume from websites such as this. This year I'd really like to study towards a qualification that would benefit my own physical goals and maybe lead on towards a career change in the future. I wondered if anyone could recommend a starting point. I'm more interested in the nutritional side of things at the moment but a combination of nutrition and maximising athletic performance would be fantastic.
Would really appreciate some guidance, course names, levels etc.
Thank you

Your best bet for a strong qualification is taking a degree course at university.
Many nutrition degrees teach mostly nutrition for the maintenance of health, and treatment of disease and dietary deficiencies using nutrition but there are more and more courses that specifically focus on sports nutrition. With a little luck, you may find a professor who has a good knowledge of supplements but these are still hard to find.
Birmingham University has two world-class sports nutrition researchers - Dr Jeukendrup and Dr Tipton. I've know Dr Tipton and he's a clever guy.
Nottingham University has Dr Greenhaff who I've worked with in the past and he is certainly one of the world's top sports nutrition and supplement researchers
I don't have any first hand knowledge of other universities or courses available in the UK - I took my nutrition degree in Canada back in the 1990's - but I'm sure there are other ones around.
