What are the bests foods to eat when going to gym?

I go to the gym around 5-6 times a week. I also do zumba 3 hours a week. Could you please tell me what are the best foods to eat before a workout so I do not feel like am going to pass out? I do try and eat healthy but am looking for advice on what to eat because I sometimes feel weak and lightheaded.

Hi Teresa,

If you feel weak and lightheaded, the best solution is to have about 30 grams of oats, rye toast or brown rice about 2 hours before your session (some people may be better to have it 3 hours before and some 1 hour before). Only you can work out the best time for you through trial and error. Generally, 2 or more hours is probably better because that will allow fo the digestion and storage of the carbohydrates, which will help fuel your exercise.

Also, ensure you drink 8 to 10 drinks (not including alcohol and ideally low in sugar or sugar free) per day, as your issue could be related to hydration.

It's a good idea to add a small serving of lean protein to this pre-workout meal.
