Would you recommend having Greek yogurt post workout?

I am wondering, if Greek yogurt, a good source of protein and carbs, could be taken as a post workout substance? Any thoughts would be very helpful!

Thanks.

Hi Mitch,

Greek yogurt does contain pretty high-quality protein but it is slowly-delivered protein. Studies show that the faster a protein is broken down and taken up into the blood, the greater its effect on protein synthesis (muscle building), so you're always best off with a whey protein product or free amino acids (especially before or after exercise).

If you're going to use the Greek yogurt, ensure you have a serving that contains at least 20 grams of protein and if your goal is to gain muscle, you should be aiming for at least 75 grams of carbs. You can add whey protein to yogurt and you could also add some fruit or honey to bring up the fast protein and carb content.
