How do I cycle creatine?

Hi All,

I have been taking creatine for almost 6 weeks now (5-6g with PWO drink, No loading phase). My question is, how do I cycle creatine? Do I stop now and get back on it after 4 weeks?

First of all, you probably get slightly better and certainly faster results with a loading cycle of creatine - 3-4 teaspoons a day for 5 days and then one serving daily thereafter.

Secondly, there is no longer any reason to cycle creatine. It has been used in hundreds of well-controlled scientific studies on tens of thousands of research subjects and been used by millions of people. There have also been several expert round-table discussions about its safety. The fact is creatine has no negative side effects (despite what some misinformed and/or people who are trying to sell you "better" or "safer" forms of creatine might say). If it did have any negative side effects, chances are we would have heard about them long ago.

So there is no reason not to just keep taking creatine and you can even do an extra loading cycle here or there when you want a little boost as this may increase muscle creatine levels further than a 3-5 gram daily maintenance dose.
