What are people's views on PowerBalance bands and Trion:Z bands?

As I am aware they are the following:

PowerBalance - designed to improve performance using holograms (?)
Trion:Z - designed to aid injured/problematic joints using ionic and magnetic technology (?)

Call me a skeptic but as I see it they surely just create a placebo effect? I.e. if u get told to wear something and get told that it will improve your performance then psychologically it will happen. I guess it doesn't really matter because at the end of the day it is improving your performance whether it is placebo or actual scientific reasons, but does anyone know of any scientific research to back up the "technology" involved in either of these products? Also has anyone used them and if so what did they think? Seems like the most successful scam ever to me!

Hmmm, they look nice...

I would be very surprised if a properly designed and conducted scientific study were ever to show that they had any positive effect on healing or performance versus a placebo wristband (or whatever).

If anyone knows of such studies, then please send me the details.
