I've read some reports that supplements that contain geranium extracts such as Jack3d are bad for us. Does anyone have more info on this?

Geranium-containing products usually have as an active ingredient 1,3 dimethylamylamine (also known as 1,3 dimethylpentylamine, methylhexanamine). These are similar to amphetamines (although not as potent) and ephedrine.
So they are very strong stimulants, which probably decrease appetite and increase thermogenesis (burning more fuel/fat) and they make you feel energetic and focused.
However, they aren't for everyone. Most people can handle them if they stick carefully to the recommended dosage but some people get quite jittery, anxious and may even get heart palpitations in very rare instances.
Also, geranium oil extracts and chemicals cause vasoconstriction (narrowing of the blood vessels) and so won't be good for anyone with heart or blood pressure problems.
Many people love taking these products for energy, as a training stimulant or as a fat burner but try it at a minimum dosage to ensure you aren't one of the small percentage of users who gets unwanted side effects.
