If my belly is getting larger, am I gaining mass wrong?

I have been trying to put weight on for the last 1 year but was no luck. However now I'm using max super mass and eating enough food I'm gaining weight but i feel like have a big belly? Is it normal when you put weight on or am I doing it wrong?

Hi Guneet

You will gain muscle fastest if you eat massive amounts of food. However, if you are concerned about excess body fat gains, consider the following...

The amount of fat you gain on a bulking cycle depends upon how much you eat beyond your calorie needs, your genetics and how you train. It you over-eat too much (defined by gaining more than 3 or 4 pounds per week after the first two weeks of bulking), then the extra calories will "spill over" (meaning be diverted to stored body fat). So aim to gain 1 or 2 pounds per week.

If you put on fat easily and are a smaller guy, then aim for 1 pound per week.

As far as training, to minimize fat gains, do a few cardio sessions and/or an HIIT session in addition to your heavy, intense weight training regime.

Here's a great article that is short and to the point on this subject...
