The Metabolic Wall

Have you been trying to lose the fat, but no matter what you do, you seem to be stuck at a plateau? Have you been on a very restrictive diet (low carb or high caloric deficit) for an extended period of time? Are you the type who does endless cardio? A yes answer to any of these questions could indicate a problem with your metabolism.

How to test your metabolism at home

There is a simple test for what kind of shape your metabolism is in. You can do it at home. Get your thermometer. Just before going to sleep at night, take your temperature. Log down the results. Repeat this for four consecutive nights. Now get an average of those results.

What the results mean

If your average is higher than 98.6, congratulations on having a very good metabolism. If your average is between 97 and 98.6, you have an average metabolism and might benefit from a refeed period. Aything less than 97 means you have a serious problem.

Fixing a metabolism problem

The answer to a low metabolism is to refeed yourself. Add a few more calories and balance out your macronutrients. Do this for a minimum of 2 weeks. Scale back your cardio during this time as well.
