A “Proven” GH Boosting Supplement Strategy!

Hi All,

Some of you may have read my review of an important study on how exercise affects certain hormones but that the boost in testosterone from training actually doesn’t seem to lead to muscle gains over several weeks. You may also remember that in that same study, those guys who boosted their GH levels the most post workout seemed to gain the most muscle.

Since then, I’ve been keeping my geeky little eye out for studies which showed that some kind of food, behaviour or supplement could cause enhancement of post-workout GH. Well, scientists at Bath University in the UK (a “hardcore” sports University, with serious sports facilities) have identified one simple supplement strategy to boost growth hormone. Some people still focus too much of their attention on replenishing glycogen (muscle carb storage) after exercise and don’t always have protein after training. If this sounds like you, then here’s another reason to have a whey protein plus carb shake after training...

These researchers found that by giving subjects just a carb drink after training, GH levels went up by about 19 micrograms but when they had a protein plus carb shake (with the same calories), GH levels went up over 50% more! The shake they drank was about 25g Protein and 75 grams of carbs for a normal sized man.

As most guys who read our stuff know, this is something exercisers should be doing anyhow but this just drives home another reason to be consistent with your post-workout nutrition.
