The Grand Opening of City Athletic London

The Sweatshop, a new, exciting and innovative concept in the heart of
London City. It’s a retail concept that spans 3 floors and is being
haled as the ultimate destination for runners who are looking to
enhance their performance.
The centre is a balance of a number of brands including The Running
School, Altitude Centre, Perfect Balance and City Athletic, which is a
ground floor performance and conditioning gym, owned by friend to
Muscle & Fitness Magazine and Hardcore Life athlete, Shaun Stafford.
The idea of the store is to offer specialist retail, advanced
performance coaching, sports training and rehabilitation, normally
reserved for elite athletes, to the everyday consumer.
The launch party was an exciting night, and a great opportunity to see
what this new concept centre and gym is all about. We were joined at
the event by Olympians and world class athletes including Christine
Ohuruogu, Louise Hazel, Margaret Adeoye, Jack Green, Andrew Baddeley,
Natasha Danvers and David Weir.
City Athletic combines state-of-the-art equipment with a top level
team of trainers and coaches to offer the city worker the opportunity
to train like a modern day athlete. The 5000 square foot facility is
fully stocked with life fitness and hammer strength machines, a sprint
track, power racks, lifting platforms, fixed and free weights, and
much more.
The launch party was a perfect way to really get a feel for the
facility, chat to all of the trainers, and experience the atmosphere
of what will make this centre such a successful facility. Speaking to
Shaun, it was clear that this was the culmination of a lot of hard
work, particularly in the 6-weeks leading up to the opening event,
where Shaun and his team had been working 100-hour weeks.
It will be interesting and exciting to watch the success of this
wonderful new facility move into fruition, and given it has Shaun at
the realm, this will surely be the centre’s destiny. If you want that
perfect physique, go to a world fitness model champion and have him
train you to achieve it, not to mention the sporting expertise of
other members of the team. I for one am looking forward to my first
training session at City Athletic with the man himself, and I wish you
all the luck in the world Shaun.
